Welcome to my home page. I am an associate professor in the Sage School of Philosophy of Cornell University. Before coming to Cornell for the Fall semester of 2001, I was an assistant professor in the Philosophy Department of Princeton University. I began teaching at Princeton in the Fall of 1997, after receiving my PhD from M.I.T.'s Department of Linguistics and Philosophy. (See my CV.) My research and teaching interests fall mainly in the areas of philosophy of language, philosophical logic, epistemology and metaphysics. My current work focuses on vagueness and the sorites paradox and the semantics of descriptions.

I'm starting to set up some web pages with photos. (See my online photos.) Right now all the photos I've posted are of my beautiful daughter Clarissa.
