Insect Products
In this lecture we will examine what common products are derived from insects. Humans relied more heavily on insect products in the past. Candlewax, scarlet dyes (called cochineal), beeswax, and silk were all valuable products originally derived from the labor of insects. We now have some synthetic products that replace these materials, but the insect products are still considered the highest quality available. We will allow you to sample some insect products, including mead (honey wine), silk, and beeswax candles.
