Research in the Lee lab aims to elucidate the molecular basis of aging and age-dependent pathologies. A better understanding of the basic biology of aging will provide important insights into healthy aging and will impact the prevention and treatment of many crippling age-dependent diseases, such as cancer, late onset diabetes, and neurodegeneration.

We mainly use the powerful genetic model Caenorhabditis elegans to identify and functionally characterize the conserved molecular pathways that modulate aging and longevity. Our studies employ genetic, molecular, genomic, biochemical, and cell biological  approaches.

The Lee lab strives to provide a learning and work environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. We believe a cohesive and positive environment is key to productivity, morale, and innovation. We welcome and value the experiences, perspectives, and strengths of a diverse group of researchers and scientists. We firmly believe diversity of thought, culture and human identity accelerate our research excellence and growth.
