Welcome to the Progeria Information Database, a clearinghouse for data on three of the many diseases that are classified under the broad term progeria. Progeroid diseases are caused by different genetic factors, and differ in symptoms, but all have one thing in common: each is characterized by symptoms that imitate extreme and premature ageing.

This website provides information about three progeroid diseases: Werner's Syndrome, the most common progeria; Hutchinson-Gilford's Syndrome, a well-known but rarer form of progeria; and Bloom's Syndrome, another progeroid disease that, while not as common as Werner's, is nonetheless among the most common progeroid syndromes and shares interesting features with the first two diseases.

For basic information about progeria and progeroid diseases, see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). For in-depth information on a particular syndrome, try the Werner's, Hutchinson-Gilford, or Bloom syndrome pages. The information on these pages is drawn from the sources listed in the "References" section, and the "Links" area suggests sites with further information on this topic.
