BioNB 440: Homework 2

  1. Using the sine expansion for a triangle wave given in class:
    1. Compute the magnitude and phase of the first 9 frequency components (at frequencies of 100, 300, 500, 700, 900 Hz) of a triangle wave of amplitude 1.0 and period 0.01 second.
    2. Compute the magnitude and phase of each of the first 9 components of the triangle wave after it has passed through an RC lowpass filter with a time constant of 0.001 second. (see also this schematic).

  2. For the circuit shown in Lab 2, assignment section 4, draw the Bode plots (magnitude and phase) that you expect for the circuit. Indicate on the drawing:
    1. slope at high frequency
    2. phase angles at low and high frequency
    3. cutoff frequency of the filter.
