Opinion, features, and alternative news sources

Everybody will find fault with these classifications: news content bleeds into opinion and features (which are or can become news), and "alternative" is a rather arbitrary label for publications that are "not mainstream." Further complicating the situation is the rise of blogs, Web pages often associated with individuals' names (although they may be published at an online organization's site) that combine links to news and opinion pieces wrapped in commentators' narratives, editorials, or rants. Anyhow, these categories will have to do.
A listing here means that some signifcant content is on-line. A few symbols:
  = available through C.U.L.'s e-reference collection
r   = significant access for registration (free)
$   = charge for some or all contents (or: you may need to subscribe to the print version to gain full access to the site)
= particular value and/or interest here
